DJ OF THE DECADE: DJ SCENE
The man went from playin jefferson community center bboy practices on Beacon Hill to being named “America’s Sexiest DJ” – ha!! while touring the world playing the hottest clubs as a world famous deckstar DJ.. Seattle has a lot of great DJ’s but Scene came up the most!
PRODUCER OF THE DECADE: JAKE ONE
Again a tough one w/ producers like Vitamin D, Bean One and tha Bizness, but Jake has arguably made the greatest impact and has been doing it the whole decade.. producing for 50 Cent, MOP, Freeway, etc.. and is now an in house producer for Dr. Dre.. sheeeyit….
BEST NIGHT CLUB OF THE DECADE: WAR ROOM
This was close w/ Trinity and Seesound Lounge right there too.. but w/ legendary parties and like Yo Son!, Wicked n Wild (reggae), 2080’s, Sing Sing, Rords of the Froor, Redbull Big Tune to name a few, we gotta give it to the War.. RIP!
BEST RAPPER THIS DECADE: FRAMEWORK
A little southend bias here but hey
RAP GROUP OF THE DECADE: BLUE SCHOLARS
B.S. went from hanging out at UW w/ SHOW to selling out the Showbox on back to back nights and Neumos 5 nights in a row.. signed to RAWKUS records and touring majorly for about half the decade.. no other local groups are doin it like that right now.. good shit B.S.!
BEST HIP HOP CREW THIS DECADE: MASSIVE MONKEES
Nobody in the town did it like Massive Monkees this decade.. becoming world champions on the battle scene taking out crews from here to Israel and back.. touring internationally non-stop for the entire decade. Appearing on 2 different MTV shows (MTV Made and America’s Best Dance Crew), and most importantly giving back to the community the whole time. Also members of massive monkees are touring MC’s (OneBeLo, They Live).. touring DJ’s (DV One, Bles One), book publishing photographers (Lonestar), DOPE ASS PROMOTERS and ARTIST MANAGERS (Soul Gorilla)… we could go on and on
TOP LOCAL CLOTHING BRAND: T.I.T.S. BRAND CLOTHING
Everybody and their mamas wears T.I.T.S. nowdays, and not just locally…but everywhere.. pay attention to your favorite rappers, singers, athlete or porn star and they’re all on it like white on rice plus their sales are thru the roof!! good shit!
BEST STORE/BOUTIQUE: GOODS
A lot of people opened new stores but nobody was quite as official as the fellas down at GOODS.. a staple for anybody coming to visit Seattle
BADDEST BITCH: GIANNA MICHAELS
Gotta give her the nod for becoming one of the top porn stars in the world!!
BEST ATHLETE THIS DECADE: BRANDON ROY
From giving us Quakers heart attacks at Garfield, to resurrecting the UW Huskies hoop program to being one of the top ballers in the NBA.. B-Roy gets it in!!
BEST SPORTS TEAM OF THE DECADE: (TIE) SEAHAWKS AND HUSKY HOOPS
I mean the hawks DID give us 4 straight division titles and got to the super bowl.. the Huskies gave us a new team to be excited about when all other Seattle sports teams were lookin like absolute crap.
WORST ATHLETE THIS DECADE: RICHIE SEXSON (fuckin Bum!)
